Mine and Fleur’s game. We had to design a board game in college and so Me and Fleur came up with this. It’s supposed to be a large board split into three separate mini-games. Throughout the game you chose a little character , which would be a ‘cute animal’ of some sort. You then go through each game , for example one game is a maze , the first one their wins it , another would be to get your characters favourite food from the ‘scary sharks’ mouth , if you move too much then the shark will snap it’s jaw and you’ll lose. The target audience would be for young children or families.
African mask are usually shaped after a human face or some animal’s muzzle, albeit rendered in a sometimes highly abstract form. The inherent lack of realism in African masks (and African art in general) is justified by the fact that most African cultures clearly distinguish the essence of a subject from its looks, the former, rather than the latter, being the actual subject of artistical representation.

Aboriginal art is originated from Australia. There are few aborigines around today but those who are around keep the culture going strong. It has paved the way for a greater understanding of the Australian way of life. A lot of their art consists of dots and lines. They also usually represent animals. Animals that are endangered in Australia , due to polution etc. from the modern world.
Some aboriginal engravings and paintings are so old that we cannot know who made them or what their real meaning actually might be. Some of their other cave paintings , however , are pretty recent are are part of a living tradition. They are still very important to people who know and respect their meanings. A few are even repainted by men and women who have the traditional right to do so.
In some of their cave paintings it’s thought to of been the first travellers arriving to Australia’s coast. Boats/Canoes ad foreign people have all been painted on these ancient cave walls.
Artists and members of ancient tribes in Africa spend most of their lives perfecting skills that are passed down from one generation to another. A lot of their art is associated with Witchcraft and Magic. Most things that are crafted are usually meant for magical practices or symbolizes this powerful belief. Art work was created to decorate shrines, to control supernatural forces and to celebrate an abundant harvest and other events within the tribe.
A lot of the traditional art made from tribes and small communities is under threat from the modern society. Tourists are flooding in to see how these tribes live but the fact is that most of their traditional acts/dances and pieces of art aren’t used for themselves but simply for entertainment in the tourism industry. It’s a benefit for the community as it bring profit but at the same time , their traditions are weakening. For example; Ashanti Tribal Dances are usually used for special occasions but now it’s an everyday routine.
Manga originated from Japan but was deeply influenced when the West ‘Americanised’ the country. They introduced comics , something that the Japanese were not familiar with. These comics and style of art gave Japanese artists inspiration … for example Osamu Tezuka was credited as the first Manga artists to create a huge impact over the country and later , the world.
Over the last 10 years , their style has spread to the West and we’ve seen this through Popular Culture. Bands such as the Gorillaz use Manga styled animation in their music videos and as their identity. Their animator ’ Jamie Hewlett’ is a british animator and was deeply inspired by the Japanese culture
Kill Bill , a famous film by Quentin Tarantino was also inspired by the Japanese culture. He worked with manga artists and animators to create his film.
